A Message of Hope and Healing
Sometimes the moments when we feel lost and alone can also be the moments when a single post, a single word, or a single message shines a light just bright enough to guide us through the darkness. A few months ago, a social media follower of In Her Name shared a deeply personal voice message that captured this truth in its purest form.
In a moment of heartbreak and despair, this person found themselves grappling with thoughts of suicide. The pain felt overwhelming and the future felt uncertain….but then, a post from In Her Name appeared on their social media feed about finding help and holding on. That one post inspired an action that changed the course of a life.
I gave the gun to my husband…I called one of the numbers you posted…and almost two months later, I’m a completely different human being. Your post helped me not do something terrible that could have changed my life forever. What you do may feel like it goes unseen, but you speak to people in silence, people struggling quietly. Thank you for reminding me that life is worth holding onto.
These words carry profound weight. They are a reminder that every supportive post we share, every conversation about mental health and suicide prevention, and every reminder that help is available can make a difference…even when we don’t realize it.
To those who struggle in silence: you are not alone.
To those who wonder if their words matter: they do.
To those working to create spaces for open conversation about mental health: you are making a difference.
Suicide prevention starts with all of us. Sometimes it’s a phone call, a post, a moment of connection that gives someone enough strength to seek help and carry on. Let’s continue to uplift each other, to listen with compassion, and to speak openly about mental health. Together, we can save lives. Click here to listen to the voice message.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please don’t wait, call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Support is free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
