Walk with Us at the AFSP Event in Stuart, Florida

On December 12th, we will be a Community Partner at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Walk in Stuart, FL. At the recent events we attended in October and November, I created “Solid as Stone” messages of hope to give to the participants, and I noticed that younger walkers who visited our table also wanted a stone, but the messages were written specifically for suicide prevention. So this time, I made some just for them...fun, uplifting messages so every member of the families can receive their own reminder of strength and hope.

These stones were inspired by my poem “One More Talk” in my book Grieving You: Poems of Love and Loss, in which I imagine having a conversation with Kathy during her darkest moments. In that poem, I whisper to her, “You’re not alone. We’ve got this now; we’re solid as stone.”

I wasn’t there to remind Kathy how strong and beautiful she was, to hold her, to tell her how much I love her, or to say, “You’re not alone. We’ve got this now; we’re solid as stone.” But through these "Solid as Stone" messages, I hope to tell others who may be struggling in silence that they are strong, they are beautiful, they are loved, and they are not alone.

If you are going to the AFSP walk in Stuart, please stop by our table, say hello, and take one of these "Solid as Stone" messages… from Kathy and me.

My book, Grieving You, is available on Amazon and anywhere books are sold. All proceeds from Grieving You go to support the suicide prevention work we do at In Her Name.

Best Regards
